Graced the place with my presence last week (Jan 2006) and it was a pleasure to see Mr Frater, Ms Muir and (of course) Mr Jarvie. Missing the place a lot and Iíll be back for a visit whether they like it or not!

Favourite lessons had to be French, Geography and Chemistry, oh and English lessons with that substitute teacher ( you know who I mean).

Curently Ďserving my timeí as an apprentice for City of Newcastle Outdoor Education Service: windsurfing, canoeing rock climbing etc Ė donít think I can really ask for much more in life. Not sure what the future holds but guess Iíll just roll with the punches and see what happens.

Iím Mandy.I moved from Newcastle when I was 18 and went to live in Watford then Yorkshire. For the past 6 years Iíve been living in Denmark and now have a daughter.

Anyone who can remember me will realise Iím not the Amanda Smith who is now Dr Smith. I remember Ms Crabtree, Miss Cairns,Mr Masterson, MrLunt,Miss Charlesworth etc, etc.

It would be great to hear from anyone who remembers me. I think the new school looks great but itís really sad to see the old place go.

After finishing my A levels at Heaton Manor I headed up to Edinburgh to do a degree in Microbiology. In a moment of madness I then decided to go South and did a PhD (yes, believe it or not, teachers, I am now Dr Smith!), also in the field of Microbiology (Miss Crabtree and Mr Toshack did a good job) in Berkshire.

I lasted only one year in laboratory research before deciding that scientific administration was for me. I worked at the Biotechnology & Biological Sciences Research Council for two years in Swindon, before finally deciding this year it was time to head back to Newcastle. I am now working in the Research and Innovation Services at the University of Newcastle.

Some really fond memories of Heaton Manor, although perhaps I regret not sticking in as much as I should have in sixth form. I spent 8 years in the RAF after school seeing such exotic locations as Cumbria and Weston-Super-Mare and Rio!
Left in 98 to join Orange as a Field Engineering Manager, this I did for five years, on and off, with a fair bit of travelling involved and in a bid to carry on the travelling theme I am now working for Nokia in Dallas (thatís Texas, not carpets).
Great to see so many familiar names but shocking to see some of the pictures from so long ago.
